SMART CRAFT NMEA GATEWAY on 90hp EFI outboard

I am installing a Lowrance HDS 9 touch with gauges LMF-400 and LMF-200, I have the NMEA 2000 network connected per diagrams with terminators on each end and T's to all four devices plus power. The Lowrance 9 touch see the gateway, the 200 and the 400. But I see no data. The lights on the gateway are both lit. So I am assuming I am attaching the gateway wrong to the engine CAN bus. I thought is was as simple as unplugging the terminator and plugging in the connector. Searching for answers I am not questioning do I need a tee connector on the CAN bus and the terminator plugged in?
Or am I missing something entirely else.
