Couldn't be happier with the tabs; a smoother ride at all speeds, a lower planing speed and less bow rise. Easy to install, and nothing to think about or fiddle with while underway. I wish I had invented these myself!

For less than a $200 feels like an engine change the way you can get on plane.

I voted "very pleased". Comparing to the Lencos that I recently installed the Smart Tabs gave the best performance at such a low price. I am already considering the work I need to do to reinstall the Smart Tabs back on my Avon Searider rigid hull inflatable. Anyone want to by a pair of less than 1 week old Lenco 9"x9" trim tabs?

Boatster :D

We just put a set on my friends OLD Larson with a 60hp Volvo I/O.

Before, to get up on plane it would require both of us to lean over the windshield

Now, we can sit anywhere and we had 2 Golden Retrievers in and it still planed out.

It did change the wake caricteristics (SP?), but with just the two of us, it used to come off plane in a moderate turn, now it doesn't, also, virtually NO bow rise at all either accelerating or decellerating.

Next is my boat. Not sure how I will attach them till I get the boat out of storage, it has a molded swim platform on either side of the motor. Don't remember how far down they go.

Craig

nautiJohn:

Didn't really do anything for the speed of the boat, not really enough power for that boat and no speedo in the boat and we didn't bring the laptop w/ GPS.

Craig

I understand. Just remember that if the speed is not better using the Smart Tabs, then reduce the pressure some at the plate bracket. see the instructions.

John, I would have to strap myself into the seat if I were to test the speed without the tabs....
I never did get to WOT without them...I don't think it will stay up-right....
I'll assume it helped...:)

nautiJohn:

Here are a few pictures of my boat's transom, where should I put them? I am going to get the tiedown straps that bolt to the trailer and ratchet, so the current straps are not an issue.

Re: Smart or Mobster Tabs Experiences

I just got mine this week. Out of town until Sunday and will get them installed one day next week. Smaller boat--16' aluminum flat boat (52" bottom) with a 50 on it. Anxious to see what they will do for me....Will post results sometime next week...
