Smart Purchase?

I recently purchased a cabin cruiser from '69 and wondered if it was a good buy or not. The owner just needed to get rid of it. It is a 22 ft. cabin cruiser with an in-line 6 chevy motor 1990 and the engine runs good. It needs a heck of a lot of cosmetic work, rewiring, paint top and hull, carpet, and seats. Also needs steering and hydraulic work for engine and bow planes. I paid $1500.00 for boat and trailer and would like opinions on whether this was a smart move or not. I have the free time to put into it just would like to know if it would be worth the time and energy to restore. Thanks Here's the picture of it I finally figured out how to post it. Has anyone seen a boat like this before?

Thanks again

Really too late to ask, isn't it, Vector?

When you have it redone and total up your cost and the value, you will know.

Good luck. :)

Look at it this way: You have sent in a deposit and will be paying tuition for several years. In return you will learn enough to become an authority on all aspects of that boat.

Was it a good finacial move - that's easy, No. But if you don't mind putting in some work and money to a new hobby it can be very rewarding. I just finished restoring a 1965 Seafair Sedan and I stopped counting how much was spent after the first couple of months. I don't regret it for one second - always get comments when out on the water.

If you enjoy fixing up old things, and modifying things, then your decision was a good one. Working on old boats are not that bad, and when you are done, you still spent a fraction of the cost of a new boat. Me, I have a whole bunch of fun knowing I didn't spend 20,000+ for my boat. Heck, I have about $2500 in mine, and I have all sorts of fun not making huge monthly payments... :D
