Installed Smart tabs (80 psi) and have ran them in the middled position and now closest to stern-- I seem to have lost top end speed --are the 80# actuators too stiff? should I have the 60#?

How do I know if the boat is riding at optimum position i.e how much of boat should be in water when on plane?

80lb may be too much for your boat. Contact Nauticus for a swap to 60lb actuators.

Call John as advised above, the 80's are too strong, I purchased a set, stainless steel version, I had the 80's and John swapped for 60's. That was what I needed to make mine perform properly. Call this number: 800-233-0194

How much of the boat should be in the water once on plane?

When I trim mine up for the best speed and look over the side the water spray is coming out from under the boat behind me, that is in smooth water, if the water gets rough then I start to trim down to smooth the ride. With the spray coming out that far back says a lot of boat is out of the water. The photo below was taken when I was on plane.
