Hi Folks!

I'm installing a set of traditional (stainless) Nauticus Smart Tabs, and while the trim plates themselves are in place, the instructions have me really confused about the proper installation of the bits supporting the gas cylinder...

- The upper, transom-mounted bracket has two holes on one side and a slot on the other. Are the two holes are for screwing the bracket to the transom?

- Assuming then the gas cylinder mounts to the slot, should it be mounted rigidly in the slot or allowed to slide in the slot? (I'd think so, but the cylinder boot collides with the bracket if allowed to slide.)

- What is the arrangement of hardware (bolts, washers, nuts) to fasten the gas cylinder to the upper bracket? (The instructions describe a jam nut, but none were included with the upper bracket hardware.)

-What is the arrangement of hardware (bolts, washers, nuts) to fasten the gas cylinder to the lower , trim plate-bracket?

Thanks!
Dave

I have the Smart Tab EX and don't want to guess on your setup. But the setup should of came with directions. If it didn't you can go most likely go to the Nauticus website and grab them. Worse comes to worse call Nauticus tomorrow and ask them your exact questions.

The cylinder bolt should not slide on the transom bracket. Mount it in the middle of the slot and tighten it down. Put the washer on first, then the lock nut. If you didn't get them in your kit, call Nauticus for a replacement, or if you don't want to wait, go to your hardware store and get a couple stainless ones.

Just reread your post. What they are calling the "Jam nut" is the nylock nut. There should only be one per attachment point so you should have a total of 4.

The 2 holes are to mount the bracket to the transom, the slot is where the gas cylinder mounts, it is to be locked in place in the slot. Start in the center of both brackets, plate and transom, adjust from there to get the best performance, probably will wind up in the center. Enjoy the new boat after installation.
