Has anyone used the pro troller smart tabs yet. I presently am considering upgrading to a 50hp Honda tiller from my present 30 hp Honda tiller on my Crestliner 1640 Nighthawk. I love the motor but I'm a bit underpowered. I have a 17 gallon built in gas tank. Boat tends to be bow heavy and I can reach appox 23mph by myself on a flat lake with half a tank. Put another person, more gas and gear and I'm lucky to get 15mph. Boat is 640lbs dry weight, 75inch beam, 16feet 4 inches long. I presently troll down to 1.7mph with the 30hp. I anticipate the 50hp would likely put me 2.4mph or higher trolling, which is too fast for me. I don't like trolling plates and I would rather avoid drift bags. Does any one have a general guideline as far as how much the protroller may cut trolling speed.? Literature says up to 35%. Does anyone have experience with before and after trolling speeds with their motor. I would rather spend the money on smart tabs protroller than changing props and using bags or plates. But I do know I won't have room for a kicker and keeping the trolling speed down where I am under 2.0 mph is critical. Any advice appreciated.

I will, but my friend has a bigger lund and can't get lower than 2mph, so he's pushing considrable amount more weight with his 50hp Honda tiller. He's contemplating the same thing with protroller. But we are looking for anyone that has actual experience with before and after trolling speeds after protroller use. Any help appreciated.

I have them, but I mounted them in the opposite direction so I could lift the tabs up above the keel line. Sorry!

jaym;

Sorry that I have not been arround to answer questions, but it is that time of the year when all of the trade shows are going on.

Let me ask a few questions before I try to answer any. You stated that the boat is "Bow" heavy. Do you mean that when the boat is on plane and cruising, the bow is down too much? And when you add another person forward of the pilot, it tends to go down more (plow)?

If so, my question is what is in the front of the boat (ie: Gas)?

How is the motor trimmed, all the way down?

When you accellerate does the bow rise up to block your line of sight?

If you wish call me at 800-233-0194.
