Wow, what a difference in the way my boat handles with the smart tabs. These things are great. Thanks everyone for recommending tabs instead of a hydrofoil.

Re: Smart Tabs Rock

i have some questions about your results.

i know that these tabs will put the boat on plane faster and once the boat is on plane the tabs will continue working to keep the boat level. right?

my question is what are the results when the boat is heavy on one side? or turning?

I am only speaking from what I have read on here. If you can't redistribute the weight on your boat, you can adjust the pressure on the tabs to help cominsate for the uneven weight. What exactly are you asking about turning?

Re: Smart Tabs Rock

Andiamo;

If the boat has a permanent list to one side or the other such as a kicker motor, you can then compensate for this balance issue by increasing the lift pressure on that side. If the list is temporary (ie:people) you would not make any adjsutment to the Tabs. What would happen is the Tabs will and always do react like the suspension system on your car. You will likely get some leaning to the heavy side but much less than you would have without the Tabs. Obviously helm controlled tabs can be adjusted to compensate by manipulating the tab position.

Sid, i am not trying to hi jack your thread...

I do have a constant list to the starbord side, may it be both batteries are on that side, the prop is counter rotation, the torque of the V8 kicks it to that side.

i currently have controlled tabs and they work great in fixing this and also in bringing the bow down while comming on plane, IF you constantly mess with them. I have come to the conclusion with them if i just set them to control the list an leave em alone they dont bother me. I would however like to use some thing to help with the bow when getting on plane that i do not have to mess with (once on plane bringing the current tabs back up)

will these tabs accomplish my wants? controll list + bow rise comming on plane + no messing around??

We sell a conversion kit CK2125 which would allow you to use your existing plates. You would remove your existing actuators only, block the holes with "backing Plates and gasketing material" which we provide, and mount our brackets and Actuators to your Tabs. Simple and easy, and inexpensive. $124.95 Call Iboats customer service.

From my experience with both systems, if the Smart Tabs are adjusted properly they should do what you want.
