I have tried everything and don't know what else to do.I installed Smart Tabs and tested today.
The boat gets up on plain much better but still having a porpoising problem around 30 mph.
I have trimmed in..out..moved weight around you name it i tried it.The strange thing is the smoother the water the worse it does.
Was out today and the wind really picked up and in choppy water the less it porpoised.
The Smart tabs at middle setting caused about a 5 mph loss in speed.
Any Ideas guys? :confused:

Maybe the bottom of your boat has a hook in it near the stern.

More likely rocker as opposed to hook . . .

Also, I have noticed that when my boat does porpoise (I have adjustable tabs and can make it porpoise if I want) that it can be more pronounced on glass. The oscillations start and there is nothing to break the rhythm on smooth water. Ripples etc. seem to stop the cycle sometimes.

Whats the best way to check? Take a straight edge along the center line of the hull?
That makes sense about ripples stopping the oscillations.
I guess if it is the hull there is no correcting the problem..It looks straight by eye-balling it and don't see any damage.

A lengh of string might work better.

Gary ;

If you lost speed then the pressure is still too much. Before changing everything arround, call me (800-233-0194) to see if we can work this out. Often too much bow pressure can cause or exagerate porpoising.

John
