I read all I could find about the Smart Tabs SX. I could not find anything negative about them on the internet. I just installed mine and went out for a day on the river. I got them from iBoats.com. I must say that the service here is great. I forgot to order some 4200 sealant when I placed the order and had to make another order. They combined them anyway to save me the extra shipping costs! Now to the test. They do all they advertise. The difference in bow rise during planing was dramatic to say the least. Before, I could not see anything in front of the boat, now the bow does not rise above the horizon during planing. The minimum on-plane speed was reduced as well. Before, I had to maintain 2500 RPM to keep on top. Now I can go down to 2000 rpm. I believe that my normal cruising RPM speed may have increased by 2-3 MPH (3000 RPM). I can trim up a little at 3000 RPM where before the trim had to be all the way in. And the idle-speed wander is all but gone. It does drag the no wake speed down a little, but this is no problem. Top speed does not appear to be affected at all. The boat feels the same at near top speed. I have the 60lb gas springs in the middle position. I have not tried different settings yet. I may increase the pressure if I need to load the boat with a few more people. Here are some photos after the install.
