Re: Smart Tabs trend
Phantoms:

The problem with high speed truns in that the foil is lifting the boat from the center and causing a teeter totter effect ( it wants to lay over easy). The foil also increases the lift as the boat goes faster, which pushes the bow down, and makes it dig in the turns as well as lay over. You most likely need to slow down in turns.

Smart Tabs do not work this way, they provide maximum lift when the boat is at slow speeds (much more than any hydrofoil) and reduced lift when at crusing speeds. Additionally the lift pressure is adjustable to the needs of the boat.

The excessive stern leift at crusing speeds that is typical of a hydrofoil (especially if the motor is not raised) cause excessive bow down attitude which increase fuel consumption. The inexpensive hydrofoils often end up costing more money in fuel every time the boat is used.

As for ease of planing, improved acceleration, there is no comparison between the Smart Tabs and the hydrofoils.
