he told me that i had to gun down on the throttle for it to get to plane faster. it worked but i cant be gunning it every time i want to take off.

That's how you get on plane with minimal bow rise.

Okay - that's metalwizards boat. I didn't know he put tabs on it. His is a true tri-hull, and he has the same drive as I do. According to his post the tabs made a huge difference - though at the time of the post his trim was not working either.

jarrpal - I looked at your boat, and you've got a similar hull style to my last boat. It was a tri-hull with a 65hp on it. I remember she used to nose WAY up on a slow start too. Do you have power trim on your outboard?

yes

I am a big fan of tabs, but why can't you be gunning it? As ez said, that's how you do it . . . ;) Listen and watch other boats, when you hear a bunch of noise for a short burst, that's what they are doing. Planing off.

With that said, tabs would allow you to ease up onto plane like you may want . . .

I'm kinda' with QC and EZ - gun it, and then back off once on plane. You can play with your trim to adjust attitude coming out of the hole in different ways, but every hull has a "point" at which it gets on top of the water. You can ease the power and deal with pushing a lot of water out of your way ... or hit it and just get up there.
