Re: Smart Tabs

I'm so jealous!!! I'd love to go out...been in the 80s here but they don't have the dock out on the river yet:( Just finished waxing the boat and trailer today so i'm ready anytime:)

Just curious tho why are you putting tabs on your boat?? Are you having problems plaining??

Re: Smart Tabs

Porposing and higher than wanted speed to remain on Plane when Boarding. Also was wanting to cut down on the bow rise on take off. It made a big difference in plane time, significantly reduced bow rise and added about 2mph to top end. Not GPS but it topped out at 59 Friday with a light wind. I was able to stay on plane about 5MPH less than before. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Water temp was around 58 but my son had to ride the tube anyway. I was nice and didn't throw him off.

JimMH,

What prop are you running? I've got the same boat and can't get 50 mph.

I'm running a 14.25X21 SS Stiletto.

Re: Smart Tabs

Hello all. I've got the porpoising issue as well on my 208LXI. I've read about the smart tabs and am interested in adding them to my boat. Any suggestions as to what size to use? Thanks!

Re: Smart Tabs

Same prop pitch? What do you think could be so different. I'm topping out at 46mph and 4600rpms. I'm running in salt water, so top end isn't as important to me. As far as the Smart Tabs, I love mine. It's like getting a bigger boat, as soon as you put them on. I can plane at 14mph now. That's great compared to 20 mph before. Riding in choppy seas is also alot better with the smart tabs too.

Re: Smart Tabs

I have no Idea. It would do 54 with the aluminum factory prop without any tabs. It was a bear to plane out before the tabs. I turn around 4600 RPM's at 59 after the tabs were put on. I also get a better trim range now where as before it had a very small range you could trim up to as the porposing would begin. I only run in fresh water so I don't know if that would be the difference.
