It looks like I am going to break down and purchase some smart trim tabs made by Nauticus. I have a 18' aluminum Starcraft. Would I be better off purchasing the Composite Trim Tabs or go for the more durable stainless steel?
My concerns are the electrolysis between the aluminum and stainless steel.
How durable is the new Composite Tabs?
Any input would be welcome.

Thanks Gunner...All I need is your address and Visa #
So you are telling me that the composite ones are better, cheaper and in your opinion (Respected) better then the stainless steels.

Re: Smart Trim Tabs

I've only had my composite ones less than a month so can only say no issues do far. Nauticus spec'd them for me via email and I have a 21 footer. I asked about the metal ones after and the response was the composite were new and they were a little narrower but longer than their metal counter part.

Here's a couple pics:

Actually there is a series of my install pics on this thread as well as some of the email correspondence...another boater had been spec'd the metal ones earlier:

I will note that the install was pretty easy, no need to use an angle template like w/ the metal ones, BUT I did need to call the company for clarification b/c the included directions were a litte fuzzy on the mounting of the 'arm'.

Thanks Athiker... Porpoising is my biggest problem. The measurement pics were just what I was looking for. Space is a problem, and the size of the "sx" style looks like a better fit. What is the website link for Nauticus. The site I get is not in English. I am considering the SX9510-60. Is that the ones you purchased?

No problem, you're welcome.

I got the 80 pounders....SX9510-80...but remember I have a 21 foot fiberglass boat.

Btw, I got a used SE 300 hydro I could sell ya! ;) ...it actually helped me quite a bit w/ the porpoising, but not much w/ better low speed planing. I think my boat was a bit too long and heavy for it to help much there. The Smart Tabs are a more effective product overall for me.

Re: Smart Trim Tabs

Honker1;

If your boat is a 4 or 6 cyl I/O then use the SX9510-60. If it is a V8 I/O then use the SX9510-80. If you are using an Outboard engine 150 HP 4 stroke or larger then Use the SX9510-80. If you are using a 150 two stroke or smaller HP motor (2 or 4 stroke) use the SX9510-60.

Outboards require a bit more lift than I/Os.

Re: Smart Trim Tabs

Another pleased smart tab owner, sx9510-60. I have a similar sized alum with 115 Opti, hole shot better, porpoising nill unless over trimming, lower planing speed, more comfortable ride in chop, everything as advertised. Havent checked for increased speed. One thing not mentioned much is throtteling down quickly from plane I get no backwash water in splashwell since nose stays down. Just need to get my steering fixed (other thread) and will be really satisfied.
