hi; i have a 78 starcraft 17 in/o 165 merc just tuned runs great , but engine smell in back of boat. have blower on, helps a little. exhaust?

Uhm... What? Err... I guess if nonone else will...... What does it smell like? Fuel?b.o.?ol girlfriend?oil? Oh wait! Gear oil smells like the depths of some... Err.... thing.... Cmon bro... Gotta help us a little more than "it stinks" in all seriousness, if your leakibg oil or fuel or both, you may end up destroying your motor and/or yourself... Good luck... :/

I think he means exhaust. Mine does it too because of the low pressure air that gets formed behond the windshield. Opening the center window helps, but it is annoying. I haven't found a good solution yet. Part of my problem is having an old boat with a somewhat tall transom. Exhaust piles up behind the boat & then gets sucked up into the boat. My boat doesn't smoke at all.

Ayuh,... Check the sparkplugs for Color,....
Rebuild the Carb, it's probably runnin' too Rich...
