If I understand correctly Smokercraft now also owns both Starcraft and Sylvan, both of which are also good boats.

RCS

Forget the rubber ducky. 2 ?
10 ! The Lund is a 10 also, but weight is important to me. The lighter weight has many benefits. I cant tell the differance between my 1995 SmokerCraft Pro Mag and the 1995 Sylvan 16 foot. ( or 14 for that matter of that year). Mine is Powered my a EFI 4cyl Oil injected Mercury.

Re: Smokercraft boats

As far as my Smokercraft Ultima is concerned the boat has been great. Excellent materials and the build quality is above average.
I'd buy another which I think is the best endorsement.

Rank = 9

Sylvan is part of the Smokercraft family but I cannot find any proof Starcraft is. Unless Starcraft was recently purchased by the Smokercraft group?

If someone can post some info on the Starcraft question I'd be interested in reading it.

In my opinion, the Smoker Craft boats are a 10. I'm on my third one. Great boat for the money; excellent value for your dollar. Sturdy, durable, not too many frills but less to go wrong too!

Re: Smokercraft boats

I own a 1988 Smokercraft Offshore. Moored at Ilwaco Washington and used in the ocean every year for the past 10 years. Go over the Columbia bar (graveyard of the pacific). Great ocean boat, has never let me down and I've been some pretty rough seas with it. Good quality, tightly built boat that out handles most in the rough water. Better to slide over the top of waves and rollers than plow through. I would buy another but this one still has a lot of life left in it.

Re: Smokercraft boats

Just FYI, Smokercraft, Sylvan, Starcraft, Vectra, Northwood, Monark, American Angler, and a few others are all brands owned by a Family in the northern Indiana area named Schrock. The original founder Mr. Authur Schrock started this legacy with the Starcraft brand in 1903 as Star boats. All of these companies are still ran today by the grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mr. Schrock. None of the companies actually own the other, they are all sister companies owned by the extended Schrock Family, so in a sense are the same company.

Re: Smokercraft boats

Just picked up a 1997 140 ProMag a couple weeks ago. The water is a bit on the hard side right now so I havent had a chance to get it wet yet. Will do a bit of a retro fit on the interior this winter. A friend of mine has a 2001 140 ProMag and I have fished with him many times in this boat and can't say enough good things about it. Small enough for one person to handle yet BIG enough for three. The floor plan is great, just going to add storage compartments on both sides of the live well. Can't wait to get it in the water. His has a 25 hp Merc and it does a great job. Mine has a 25hp Mariner. Just one thing to remember...
THERE ARE MORE FISH TAKEN OUT OF A LAKE THEN EVER WERE IN IT!

Re: Smokercraft boats

did you ad som fin or tab to your boat

I just remembered when I bought the boat it came with a 50 4 stroke Evinrude. I had to put a Pro Fin on the engine to help the boat get up on plane faster, but it still was a labor to get it up, once3 on plane it ran super. LDJ :redface:
