smoking but not starting

I have an 87 evinrude 25hp. i just ran 2 weeks ago. now it will kick like its trying to start and i will get white smoke but it wont start. Its got some wierd looking spark plugs in it (autolite) i think they might be the problem.

check your compression, white smoke is usually water intrusion, or water in fuel. Get CHAMPION plug in it QL77JC4 gapped at .030.

its not a water issue. its not heavy white smoke either, just signature 2 stroke smoke. the plugs just have a small dot on them, no prong. Im assuming it sparks on the top of the piston when its up... one of the pistons has gunk on the top of it and i think that is hindering the spark in that cylinder.
