smoking/will not idle

I have a evinrude 60 horse, 1991 model and I am wondering if the motor has a idle screw to adjust the idle up--motor runs great at speed but when idling IT will not stay cranked and smokes some. Just bought the boat and still running their gas and do not know age or mixture

Start with a compression test on that motor.-------And is the oil injection in service or did previous owner bypass it ??------Need to determine that !

the previous owner by passed the oil system and went to premix--the oil injection tank/bulb and hoses is still on the motor. The plugs are clean--thinking about draining gas and starting over-do not know how long gas has been in motor--18 gallon full tank
