) Dogsdad, surely you must know that the babies can be much more dangerous than the big ones? Supposedly they don't let go. They pump in everything they have unlike the adults, if this lore is true. Heard it from my HS advanced biology teacher who had pacific diamond backs all round his house where he lived. Get to the ER after getting bit and the doc's would usually way under dose the antivenom because they go by the amount of swelling. As you point out their toxin is different, so they cause little swelling. Don't care for any kind of rattler, much less ones with stealth poison. Love those king snakes and gopher snakes, though. Especially the kings will eat rattlers!
