Got my template made and I am ready to send it to a place in Pompano beach fla to have cockpit carpet made .They have a berber that I like with a semi firm rubberized/plastic backing that runs like black raised stripes on the back about1/2 inch apart.I also have seen a company called snapincarpet.com that has what looks like the same berber carpet but the backing is solid black thin foam/rubber with small circles on backing.I dont know which is more durable. The solid rubber with circles backing is more flexible and grips the cockpit floor much better but may be prone to deterioration over time and may absorb water .The one with striped rub/plastic backing is more rigid and will tend to slide a bit when not snapped down.Anyone have any experience with these types of carpet.????

Charlie, Berber carpet(used in a house) has always been succeptable to pulls. Since boats get hard use, I would think that either the marine style of berber is not succeptable to pulls, or it is a bad choice.

The berber is the same as many factory std. equip. like Sea Ray.So this I am sure I want.I was hoping someone had experience with the 2 types of backing I have to choose from.Charlie
