Can someone please post a picture of the snap ring pliers that come from Harbor freight that will remove the snap rings in the lower units of the V6 johnson gear cases ?? I bought the $99.99 dollar kit (2 very big snap ring pliers) they are plenty long enough but they wont get close enough to the "eyes" on the snap ring itself i think the tips may need to be grinded down ??

I no longer have the pair that I got from OMC Special Tools, but do remember that they had a radius ground on the ends so the tips would go in the snap ring holes.

I know this picture is not good enough to show it.

Will your Harbor Freight ones reach the nose of the gearcase?

Re: Snap Ring Pliers

yes they will reach no problem but i think they need offset tips like a 45 degree angle maybe ?? the pliers themselves came with straight and 90 degree tips but no 45 degree.....and by the time you get the "head" of the pliers down in there i think it is hitting on the case itself...i looked at the "eyes" on the snap ring and they are about 1/16" away from the wall of the case so i'm guessing whatever will work, will need to have an offset angle on the end...?? thanks for the help and i do appreciate the pictures, might just have to get them from the dealer :(
