snuk out on to the lake today!!

ohio weather finnally gave me a 2 hour window that i took advantage of!!

was my first solo trip on the boat since buying it.

noticed a couple of things that i want to do

~ bigger prop (current pitch 19)

Wot was going to 5200 if i let it.

i will have to check out some of my local marinas to see who will let me "try out" a couple of props. want to check out a few 21 3 blades and maybe a 20 4 blade.

top speed with gps was 56 and hole shot was amazing...actually it was the best of any boat that i have ever owned. hoping i wont give up too much of that when going to larger prop. the boat does weigh lil under 3k and has a 250 hp 5.7lx so dont think i will

~ check the choke, float valve and mix jets

had very small amount of black smoke at idle...may be running rich

all in all was a good time and very excited for this summer!!

Black smoke at idle is typically a choke that is not opening fully after warm up, or set too tight during initial start. Without starting the engine, move the throttle forward about 1/3 then back to neutral. Remove the flame arrestor and check the position of the choke plate. It should be closed but push GENTLY on the back side of it to open it just a bit. Then release it. The choke should just barely close. It should not SLAM shut as that's an indication it is too tight. NEVER adjust the choke on a warm engine. It must be stone cold.

Did you happen to put a bunch of Stabil in the tank last fall? That stuff will cause some black smoke if you used a lot.

louisville just just a few miles away from Canton (pro football hall of fame) and south of akron

hit up berlin lakes ~ dont usually like going there but water levels were about 8 ft above normal so i wasnt too worried about hitting garbage on the bottom

jeep not sure how much was used last fall as this boat was not mine last fall...just picked her up about a month ago

launched at the public ramp by the dam. that is the only one that i will use there. i have learned my lesson at the others

private ramps? now that would be nice!

a few years back i checked into a couple of the marinas by 225 and they wanted a pretty penny to launch there.

Dr Roach might have openings used to be long list for membership , Past Cookies Cove or Kettlers towards Deer
Creek and there was one besides Dr Roach's too .

sounds like a good first run to me.
i got the smokies too on my first three runs. sta-bil. fogging oil. i don't know. if i continue to run rich or appear to. maybe i'll look at my carb. choke. i'm runnin good enough i ain't gonna adj. much at this point, got me an old engine though... bath tub smoke ring on the transom or not.

NEF Dr,Roaches will only let you launch if you commit to 20 hrs of service to the camp site in labor. Friends of mine are campers at McDermots just down the road (best camp ground on the lake) and they fill me in on all the lake gossip my buddy is the on the board of the lakers association it's kinda hard to get into the private launches anymore but your best bet is the state launch where you put in or over at mill creek just behind Bens resturaunt I think they charge like $5.00. Glad you got out that window must have been realy small because it rained on and of all day.

haha from about 330 to 5 was good. but by the time i was home and put away, ohio shared its beautifull weather again!

Maybe to the north at the lake but I rode east on 62 to Massilon (Menards) and when I passed under the Louisvill exit it just started raining and stopped y the time I got up to the jail house. Still to early for me.
