So can I make a gasket for the motor in this location? (pic)

Last fall while winterizing (my mercruiser bayliner) I dropped the VERY THIN Plastic washer, that is between the air filter top and bolt, into the carb. The motor was running at the time (things were balancing on the back of the boat) and as soon as I saw what was happening I nailed the gas shut while at the same time turning off the key. Despite my efforts the plastic washer fell in there, I think. I haven't been able to find it anywhere else on or stuck to the motor or in the bilge.

The washer that goes between the nut and the plastic in this picture

My friend thought I should remove the part in the picture because he thought it might give access to the air intake and I could get it that way.

So I took it off, ruined the gasket and now I'm wondering how I can fix this TODAY. I'd really like to go boating tomorrow. What do you think my best option is....... of course I'm a reasonable guy and realize that I might be having two things against me:
1. Not having the right gasket on hand.
2. I have not located that damn washer yet.

Any advice for either one of those?
