So CMC power tilt/trim a no-go for Force outboards?

I read in another topic that the Force outboards have a different bolt pattern than normal and that they won't work with the CMC power tilt/trim. Is this true?

NO. It is a simple matter to drill the CMC unit to fit any outboard.

If your looking to install a CMC Tilt Trim Unit on a Force outboard just be sure its exactly what you want. If you purchase the unit new, any drilling "WILL" void the warranty on the structure.

If you know the CMC unit is what you want then I wouldn't worry to much about the warranty on the structure. I had a CMC PT-130 on an ole crestlliner running a 50hp Merc. I beat that outboard/boat to death duck hunting and never had a problem with the PT-130, it is a well built piece and can stand up to over time.

I just wanted you to br aware of things if you drilled the unit.

Everything I read says that they are a QUALITY built unit. My only real concern is that some day down the road, I may not have the Force outboard anymore then I might be screwed. Do you know if the offer a replacement mounting plate?

NOT TO WORRY! Early Force--until Merc changed the mounting --was narrower than either Merc or OMC. So if you go to change engines in the future--no problems will be encountered.

SO a 1988 Force 50hp outboard WILL bolt right up?

If your outboard mounting holes match the measurements in the picture below then yes, it will bolt right up. If not then you will need to redrill.

HI, I can't speak for the CMC unit, but I installed a Vance MFG unit and drilled it for my Force 125 (1988). The Vance MFG is drilled only for the new BIA standard. So what I did was plug my transom mount holes, Move my splash well drains and re-drilled for BIA standard. Was alot of work, but I now have correct bolt pattern on the transom for any future motor, and the Vance unit had plenty of room to mount the force. Their plates are drilled for 1 pattern so you don't have to worry about hitting and existing bolt hole.

The way I drilled the plate was to clamp it to the motor mounts and using a long drill bit and use the mounts as guides for the holes. I noticed an improvement in steering (less torque) and smoother running.

has anyone used the diagram with the measurement to see if drilling is required to make the cmc unit work.

also will the cmc 5 inch set back cause difficulties on a 17 foot bayliner?

Bumping this to the top. Would the CMC unit work (without redrilling) on a 1989 Quantum with 50hp Force of same year?
