overpowered as in it looks to be a 17' or so ski boat with a twin turbo lexus v8 in it.

unsafe as in the following:

A) overpowered
B) running non-marine components such as auto fuel injection system and a megasquirt fuel injection computer (which that I know of, none are marine grade obviously).
C) both
D) neither

accidently came across it while looking up videos on troubleshooting my megasquirt system in my mustang. figured I'd share :)

still cool regardless and I bet it will haul butt until it becomes airborn!

Re: so is this boat overpowered and unsafe?

As long as it's in an open engine compartment, ya it's legal. I'm running a 1970 Lincoln engine in my Jet boat...perfectly legal. I have water cooled exhaust and a spark arrestor (Which you don't need in an open engine compartment) and a few other items.

EDIT: Ya, I just now watched the video after initially posting. It is legal, he's running fuel injection etc.....shouldn't be any problem at all.

so you can run an automotive fuel injection setup in a marine application? I thought all automotive stuff was frowned upon?

just the carb stuff in a closed closed compartment?

Overpowered? My wifes lexus has the 4.3 liter v8.....not exactly a powerhouse, with twin turbos though??? Either way, it looks fun.

fuel injection takes care of the the two major safety issues... Open fuel, carbs ALWAYS have fuel exposed to atmosphere, might be a very small amount but they are going to vent gas fumes. 2) ignition systems. Anything that isn't solid state is going to have the possibility of causing sparks. Not an issue with efi.
