Maybe some add meds.

You bounce from toy to toy with every change in the wind direction.

Stick with what you got at least till you are proficient at it, learn how to care for it, repair it, and take responsibility for it..

It's pretty obvious that mechanized vessels aren't your forte... stick to sailing!

What's a toy to one guy, the next guy may have no interest in. I bought a 12 foot aluminum boat with a 5.5 horse outboard as a toy recently. It's more fun for me than the Chris craft.

My idea of a toy would be a cheap 500 pound Fletcher, 50hp engine+
cheap Fun :) also if it's only you in the boat you could get away with a even smaller engine, minimal costs on fuel

Build a little hydroplane. They're cheap, easy and fast.

Re: so whats a cool toy?

Hard to decide.

My 59 year old toy doesn't go very fast and makes a lot of noise - you can't even talk at plane - but the old girl has won several trophys and she gets rave reviews every time I launch her.

My little fishing boat also doesn't go very fast, but after a few hours in her all my work stress completely disappears.

My jetski goes like heck and at times my wife has to hang on for dear life, but today the new ones go much faster.

My cabin in the mountains......the summer cottage on the river.....still can't decide.

Oh, I know.....my most favoritest toys are the 2 University diplomas hanging on my office wall - that's what allowed me to get all the other toys brand new and pay cash for them.

Toys.....tens of thousands. Diploma...priceless.

Very well said Jim!! Hopefully our "friend" here will actually listen to you this time and let this message sink in.

Sure having boats are a lot of fun, but lets think long term here a lit bit. Start concentrating on your education and the rest will come down the road.

Keep the sailboat or something like that to play with while pursuing the education, but don't let it interfere with it.

You have received a lot of good advice on here, even though it may not have been what you wanted to hear, doesn't mean it wasn't good, sound advice. Here is hoping that you listen to it this time.

Re: so whats a cool toy?

Wow ... a 15 year old who "knows it all." That's unique:rolleyes:.

C'mon bud! Be honest, in the next 10 years you will be hit with education, a car, insurance, rent, groceries, maybe a mortgage, maybe a wedding, maybe a child ... and the list goes on. You cannot save enough money in those 10 years to pay for all of the expenses that will come in those 10 years. That's what these guys are trying to tell you ... because they've already been there and done that.

Keep it cheap and simple right now. If you pay the piper first, you'll be able to listen to all the music you want later.

If you already have $500K in savings, void everything I just typed ... that should make it through the next 10 years, if you can do college for less than $50K.

Re: so whats a cool toy?

A sailboat is a very cool toy, and if you were actually using yours you'd know this and wouldn't be looking for something else... but I suspect you either don't know how to operate it, are afraid of it, or something is broken on it... or all 3! Maybe you don't know how to tack to get back to the place you started from?

My 2 brothers and I used to rent little Sunfish sailboats when we were about your age and stay out in them all day and have a blast racing around the bay and trying to steal eachothers wind. We'd have killed to have a boat the size of the one you have... but your is just sitting on the trailer collecting dirt and grime and becoming more weathered from neglect.

since you don't have the funds to repair you OB now you should turn your attention to your other boat. Clean it up, fix it up, take it out!

How about a snorkel, mask, and swim fins? Cheap, cool (depending on water temperature), and just as fast as you want to go.

Re: so whats a cool toy?

hey jign the sailboat hasn't bin on the trailer since end of may. it's in the water and sailed about few times a week. haven't sailed it for two weeks since had to get new stay ( things that hole the mast up) but i sailed it twice in the last three days. i work on that boat like crazy rigging up new sails so i can go faster. buying new gear to make it easier to sail by my self and better stuff for the boat. slowly replacing every thing to make it better. i even made my own sail cover.

Fun on the water - I'd reccomend snowmobile watercross!

Seriously though, everyone else has given you sound advice. It wasn't that long ago that I was 15 (OK, maybe it was a while), but I had similar ambitions. I wanted a snowmobile, dirtbike, 4 wheeler, boat... When I turned 16, all that changed and all I wanted was a car. I started working 80 hour weeks, saved up, and bought that car. By then, I was used to the work, and I kept working those hours putting money away for school. My plan was to have enough saved by the time I went to college, I wouldn't have to borrow any. I was wrong, and still borrowed over half. Sad part, RIT's tuition this coming year just surpassed double what it cost when I was there.

Save your money, enjoy the boat you have.

Then again, if you can pick up a cheap sled and have a pond nearby... watercross.jpg

Re: so whats a cool toy?

i think i will stick with both the boats i have even though the motor boat is costing more than i ever thought :(. but the so is the sailboat but it's worth the enjoyment i get from them. i'm not sure just wanted to see my options if i was to just get rid of the motor boat now. if i ever did sell the chrysler i think i was get and inflatable with a 15hp or 25 hp. and a motor for my sailboat. school is deff a lot of money if i go to college i go to college if i don't i will go to trade school.
