Man..this thread is really depressing..

All of us down south here need to count our blessings..

I'm further north than most here (latitude 53 degrees north) but the Pacific Ocean keeps our climate relatively mild. I can boat year round but tend to go out less during the winter months as storms are more frequent.

I was out for a couple of hours on Sunday. It was sunny and 43F. Cold enough to be uncomfortable. Spent the rest of the day prepping the trailer for the big haul out of the lake next weekend if the rain holds.

Well my season came to a end today !!!@$#%$@ my lower leg froze up on me today !!! she run good out till we got to the spot we wanted to try !! then we were slowing down and she stalled on me !! she started again but we were in our spot so we fished for a while !didn't get anything so we were going to move and she wouldn't start !! we got towed in to a ramp not to far from there and then got a ride to the truck !!! wasn't a good day !! Still have a few good days left here in the Upcountry of South Carolina.

I was out on Lake Hartwell today. Sunny, calm, low 70's and the water is still warm.

First week in November, I'll pack it up.

We stop skiing and start fishing in Oct and return to skiing in May. Boating never stops for us. The temp was 90 with a 76 water temp this last weekend on Lake Mead.

Cold weather forced me to winterize last weekend. I never like doing it, not because of the labor but because it's kind of admitting that summer is over. That is especially hard to do this year because here in WI we barely had a summer at all. Temperatures far below normal, cold water, and excessive wind took an already short season and reduced it to a few hurried weekends. I dont think Im alone (least around here) in my resentment for mother nature and really hope shes in a better mood next year.

It will probably end around the last week of December and start back up around the second week of January. The highs drop down into the 60's around then you know. Don't want to risk hypothermia.

De-summerizing the boat (Putting the enclosure curtains up and changing out the light summer tackle for the heavy artillery) and putting it back in the slip on Wednesday.

I have two fishing tournaments in November and two in late December so I'll be in the water till at least X-mas time.

Could be a blessing or a curse. If I didn't have an excuse to hang it up for a couple of months a year I probably never would have made it my 21st wedding anniversary.

Here in coastal South Carolina I usually don't venture out between January 5 through February 28th. I take that time to do spring maintenance.

Our season usually ends pretty much when the kids go back to school or Labor Day. Too much going on after that. Unfortunately the school district has been moving the starting date up over the years to the point where now they started 8/10 this year, but on the up side they're out before Memorial Day.

When we're not boating in the winter months, you'll find us in the desert 4 wheeling and quad riding.
