I saw a solar battery charger for sale at a Sears Basics (old KMart) store and thought it is a fantastic solution for boat that gets used every now and then. Especially a boat in the water. The larger size panel sells for only $75 and has a 5 year warranty. Anyone have experience with these chargers?

Re: solar battery charger

With no specifications on the panel (current output) it's hard to tell if this is a viable option. Most solar panels in that price range have very little current output and would take forever to charge a trolling motor battery for example. If you simply want to keep the starting battery topped off, they work well. I have a small unit in the window of my shed to keep my tractor battery topped off. Works well.
