You may be aware of my thread on my back patio project.
we don't often stay up much after dark, we are 4am risers typically. Last night however we were up to almost midnight and spent a lot of time by the pool and on the deck laughing a lot. And eating chips and salsa.
we have solar lights on our fence posts around the pool so plenty of ambient light to move about and the pool light adds to that. With the new work we've done however the stairs on the deck are less well lit so while sitting out there contemplating the origins of the universe and whether spelling dog backwards means anything..............what if I took some nav lights, used a small solar panel and a battery of some sort and put on the first step of the deck. Red right return kinda thing.

Could use diff style light and colored led
Maybe a dawn to dusk light? I
So my question(s) are
LED lights i think I could swap out on any style of light avail?
Battery type? I hate electricity stuff. 12 v 1.5 v 6 v whaaaat? I have room under deck for a car battery if needed.
Wire to use? Thinking I might need 20 ft of so is there any voltage loss enoght to affect performance?
Size of solar panel to use? I could put on a stair riser or locate remotely....see above on loss of power.
Anything else a neophyte dork is missing?
