i would like to give walleye head a compliant as well as dhadley.ive looked on other web pages for prop advice as for a 2nd opinion always this one frist.the others web pages dont even come close to the advice everyone shares on this web page.so keep up the good work.this site has helped me alot and also saved me alot of money and time.not to mention all the good people.i hope people will see this reply

Kenny, when you were at the Miami show did you stop by the Turbo booth and see the new Offshore I & II? Or everybodys (Ford, Gillette and now Turbo) favorite new "buzzword" the Fusion?

Hi, first time here and I really like what I see here. My question is prop for a 22 LTS. Yesterday went out and tested what I have, 14.25x17 rapture. Trimmed out as much as a could, got the motor to 5800 and 43 mph on gps. Being only 22' I thought I would see higher top end. the boat had 50-60 gallons of fuel, two guys, tackle and T top, going into a 12-15 mph headwind. Hole shot is decent, up in plane between 11-13 mph. Would like a better hole shot, performance. Only had the boat a month so still experimenting. Thanks for your help in advance.<br />Pete

Boy, I thought I had all the bases covered and forgot to put in the motor. It is a Honda 2004 225 and max rpm's is 6k or 6200. I would have thought that the boat would be faster than that but I do not have anything to compare it to except my flats boat with a 115 yammie and it did 42-43. Thanks for the help.

All this talk about what hole the motor is in I thought I may add that the Honda 225 is in the 3rd hole from the top. Now I think I have everything in the equation for Walleyhed to evaluate.

PK, you're at about 15% slip. Naturally we'd like to see that a bit lower. Have you tried moving the motor up the last hole just to test?

No I have not moved the motor yet. Yesterday I measured from the bottom of the boat to the cavitation plate and the bottom measured 1/34 - 2" from the cavitation plate. The motor was trimmed all the way down. What should this measurement be for optimal performance. Thanks.<br /><br />Pete

Trim the motor so the AV plate is parallel to the bottom. Then measure the difference. If the plate is above the keel or pad then its considered a positive X dimension.<br /><br />The actual X dimension will be different for any given rig. A lot has to do with balance, hull technology and prop design. On my old Allison we actually ran the center of the propshaft 1/4" above the pad.
