Do you need 2 solenoids to operate double action cylinder on a tilt and trim unit to go up and down i have 1 solenoid and 1 red plug with 3slots in it at the bottom<br /><br />laker

need to know what motor...Yamaha does have a model that is a single solenoid that does both up and down

its an evenrude outboard with 1 cylinder

Give us the Evinrude engine model number, Jim. You are going to need a Repair Manual to tell you what to do and how to do it.

Old OMC tilt and trim units only had a solenoid for the up cycle, and direct wiring to the trim motor for the down circuit because the trimming up required a lot of hydraulic pressure and electrical current. Down only needded the pump to "release" the hydraulic pressure.<br /><br />We do need your model number to comment on your exact motor.
