I bought an 1996 70hp.evinrude trim and tilt unit for my outboard it has 2 wires the person i bought it from has no paper work for it, but said i need solenoid to operate the unit to go up and down. the motor i have now is a manual lift, what i like to no is what type of solenoid do i need <br /><br />thangs === jim

Hey, Jimmyp,<br />It's Hooty again. Yep, you're gonna need a solenoid for your t&t set-up. It will be in a box along with a terminal strip. This is where the wires from the t&t switch and the pump hook up. Mounts in the boat, Should've come with the rest of the stuff.<br />Have ya got a manual yet?<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

Didnt the 96's have the two relays, instead of the solenoid, on the side of the block?<br /><br />I think.

I doubt you'll need solenoids...You'll probably need a couple relays. Bosch or Hella will do. SPDT 40 amp. These were typically found in a black plastic box near the top of the engine. If you don't have the original box, it may be easier to mount them on board instead. You'll also need the TnT button/switch to accent your control box...<br /><br />I'd recommend getting a schematic from an applicable manual........<br /><br />
