Solidifying floor around ski storage

I just purchased a boat and the flooring on each side of the ski storage area is sagging a bit. It starts to turn downward about 3 inches from the edge if of the opening. The opening is maybe 1/2" below the rest of the floor. The stringers are probably a foot out from the edge of the opening so there isn't a whole lot of support surrounding it. The boat is a 1996. Any recommendation for securing the flooring around the ski storage area? Bad idea to run a couple of 2x4's along the underside of the floor, parallel to the opening, and secure them with screws through the flooring? Everything else seems very solid otherwise. Thanks! You should do some exploratory surgery, by the time the decking has started to sag there's usually some rot going on below deck. If everything checks out ok below deck you can patch the sagged area with some new plywood and glass it in.
