Re: some advice

My buddy used that hydroturf stuff... It turned out looking slick.. I told him I thought it cost a lot.. Said you can buy it by the sheet and it is pretty reasonable for what it is..
He had snap it so he had a pattern to go by.. So it made the install a snap for him.. Said it was like peel and stick.. Once you stick it it's stuck...
When I pull out the old stuff in mine I am going with it as well, and putting on my swim platform too.

I'm a big fan of my marine vinyl floor

Re: some advice

carpet will absorb and hold traces of everything that gets spilled/splashed/etc. in your boat and eventually stink...think about carpet in a kid's bathroom. not my cup o' tea but to each his own. marine vinyl or a simple deck paint with sand tossed on it for non-skid surface is a better and washable alternative.

Home Depot Marine carpet. Fairly cheap and holds up well. You can also wash it like any other carpet.

Re: some advice

ljc, I've seen your pic a couple times now and I really like that raised deck with recessed foot wells you've got going on there. Really turns a small closed bow, which would ordinarily not be an ideal fishing platform, into a pretty nice one. If you got hi-lo pedestals and bases for those two seats and had a pedestal base in the middle in the front (between where the seats are now) and one in the middle in the back, you could swap the seat placement for fishing and it would be really ideal. I'll probably be stealing your picture to show others who are considering whether or not to hack up the bow deck on their closed bows for fishing.

Re: some advice

Ezombee, I've seen boats like that here in the Pacific Northwest. They make great salmon fishing boats. However, I use this boat for cruising and swimming half the time. So the carpet and back deck are nice. Also, it's really comtorable sitting up front, lots of leg room. Another plus was the ease of mounting the seats. I saw a small boat like mine on Craigslist that a guy had put a center consul in it. It looked nice.
