if you don't mind me asking...why? They show up just fine on my screen. Not to big and not to small. I'm on multiple forums like this (car stuff) and have never been asked to resize.

They "blow out" the forum frame and can make it so users with smaller monitors have to scroll (my netbook for one). You're welcome to link to pictures as big as you'd like but we prefer 640x480 for in-line pics.

Just got done removing 16 inch's of snow off my boat cover and put back one of the supports that collapsed from the weight.
Then I come in to see see these warm weather pic.s of fishing, boating, animals, racing and camping is a nice reminder of the warm weather to come.Thanks for sharing the pic.s Shamus O'toole. My wife keeps asking why dont we live in Florida?

brother thats why we moved here. It's been a cold winter for us down here. It's barley in the 60's today!!LOL Seriously though it should be in the 70's this time of year.

The smaller photo size isn't just for those with small monitors. The main system in my office has three monitors with a total of 63" of viewing space, with the main (center) monitor being 24". The point of having all this monitor space is to be able to arrange documents like a real desktop, with multiple items viewable at the same time. That means I don't open all of them using full or even most of the monitor width.

My point is that even with a substantial system, having photos larger than the allowable limit, can result in text widths exceeding the width of the window, which results in lots of scrolling.

The smaller image sizes also result in smaller file sizes, which eats up less server space and results in faster page loads. Really, its just about ease of viewing a post and efficient management of the system.
