so most people tell me im silly, worrying about a boat getting wet...

I bought a new (to me) 2001 stingray 200CS and due to an unfortunate series of events the interior got rained on the first night home. We have been having TONS of rain here in the ohio valley. I keep the boat now in a covered (roof only) storage facility and keep driving out there looking at my wet carpets. Should I be concerned about damage to the floor or carpets? The boat has been well maintained and from the looks of it stored out of the elements. The rain is supposed to stop and the sun come out in the next day or two but in the meantime I dont have alot of options until the weather cooperates.

best regards
Nathan

Store it with the bow as high as possible....... as soon as it stops raining ......get it into the sun (maybe by July we should see the sun )

You really should be okay as long as the plug is out .

Although it is carpet, it is marine capret and is meant to be able to get wet. If you're that concerned about the lack of sun, get in there with a shop vac or a bunch of towels and get up the majority of the water and place a fan to keep air moving across it until you can get it in the sun.

As long as it's draining, no need to overly worry.

If you use the boat you will get caught in the rain, if you use the boat swimmers and tubers will climb into your boat... your boat will get wet again and has been before. Like the others said make sure the plug is out so there is no standing water in your boat and you will be fine. The sun will do more damage than rain to a boat and even that take time.

Battery died in mine last year while at the dock.... therefore bilge pump wasn't working and I walked into 6" of standing water in my cabin...

Plugged in the boat, drained the water and steam cleaned the carpet and aft cabin and put a fan on.

Good as new and I got a new battery charger from the admiral out of the deal.

It's a boat.. it's meant to get wet. No worries!

as previous poster said, just make sure you take the plug out of the transom (back) and keep the bow raised high. THen, dont forget to put the plug back in before hitting the lake.

ROAD TRIP

If the Buckeye state's weather stays like this, then a trip to Lake Norman should be in the works to dry out the boat. :D We are at least 3 weeks behind. Cold, windy, and rain, no yard work, garden, boating, it just s_ _ _ _s.:(

As long as it's not directly getting loads of rain in it, it will be more than fine. Its leaving it in the elements for long periods of time when you need to start to worry about water seeping into seat base screw holes and damage to vinyl upholstery.

And for the record, I have a full cover on my boat, and during hard rains inevitably some seeps in and soaks the floor.

Also, Im in toledo, so I feel your pain about it raining so much right now..... its just not fair. ESPECIALLY right now, walleye are pretty much jumping into the boat!

Not a problem at all as long as it can air out. Boats (interiors) are meant to get wet but not stay wet. The seats are made of materal unaffected by water and flow through foam unlike the carpet and of course the wood floor of your SR. I realize that snap out carpet was just getting traction in the early 2000's but having it removes the exact worry you are having now.

Crap! Send some of that rain our way! None in 2 months. Weather is beautiful, but the river & lakes are getting low...

Do not cover it. Leave it air dry or use a fan. I use a slight bit of bleach in some water and give it a quick spray with a weed sprayer just so it doesn;t get that nasty mold smell. Just a TAD of bleach not enough to affect anything.

I blasted a giant wave over the bow and the entire interior was a puddle of water. It took 3 days with 2 dehumidifiers, 1 fan, and 1 1500watt heater. I can;t look back at that electric bill.
