Someone else's outboard conversion fail

Found this on Facebook recently of a starcraft islander/chieftain conversion for sale.

This photo is is why some people shouldn't be allowed to get near good boats when they have zero qualifications and too prideful to ask the experts and listen to them involving overhauling design for outboard.

Even with a hydraulic lift that raises it vertical a few inches, that's not going to cut it.

Perhaps a Gil Bracket would have worked a bit better

That said, an Armstrong bracket would be the answer.

To be fair, the motor is just a bit low. If it was up a few inches, and you never plan to tilt it up, run it!

Looks like it may have been an I/O at one point? The transom has definitely been worked.

How are you going to service the lower unit area of the outboard? Pull it off with a hoist every time you need to access it below like for an impeller change?

Gonna need a hell of a set of Ramps to get the motor high enough to remove the Lower Unit to replace the Water Pump Impeller

Im with Chris in that if its what you have and you need to make it work with a limited budget ( doesnt look like a high budget outfit ) job done . While you guys are standing round poo pooing it hes off fishing .
yes servicing it might be a bit dificult but then a impeller can last 12 years LOL apparently and anyhow he could dig a hole and stand in that ( thats how my bro in law got the motor out of his bus )
