Someone Wanted Pictures - New Boat

Well, I mentioned that I had sold my 17' Sundance Skiff and got new boat. This was a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't forgotten that someone asked to see pictures of the new boat. Here's one:

It is a 20' Crest Pontoon. They are built somewhere up north. I found this one sitting on a lot in Venice Florida, where it had been for sale for two years. Apparently down there folks want boats for the gulf, because every other boat on the lot was big a Grady White. Anyhoo, I got a pretty fair deal as they were asking below dealer cost for the boat. Here is another view:

It has the general list goodies like a radio, depth sounder, AFS and stuff. And LOTS of room to play:

Up front there a two fishing seats, each pontoon has an anode as does the motor so I can fish in the brackish water out in the bay. But my 2nd favorite thing about this boat is this:

My last boat didn't have a big enough motor and that was a constant source of dissatisfaction for me. So when I was ordering the rigging of this boat, I asked for the biggest motor they could put on it. The guys tried to talk me down to a Merc 90, but I insisted on the big Merc 115 4 Stroke. And I LOVE it. If the boat sank, I could use the engine cover as life raft! I just can't say how much I love this motor. It starts every time with just a bump, runs really quiet, and pushes this barge at about 24 mph! I plan to add sheathing to the belly of the boat, and a tilt/trim gage, but other than that, this boat is awesome.

When I was looking for new boat, I decided that I wanted a 19' Scout, but my wife wasn't enthusiastic until I mentioned this boat. And this is the best thing about; she LOVES this boat. I couldn't get her out on the skiff because it was wet and was really rough on all but the flattest seas. But she always wants to go on this boat! That is the best thing about this boat, because if my wife doesn't want to go out on my boat, then neither do I.

Oh, yeah, and I really love the docking lights. Man, they are way brighter than I thought they would be. And trailering is totally easy. The big Merc just pushes the boat onto the trailer with ease! And since the trailer is longer than the one under the skiff, this boat is easier to back than the smaller skiff. This boat just really does makes us happier than I expected!

Yep SW, they are a lot of fun. Used to own a bigger version of one. You can get up and walk around or you and Mrs SW can just use your imagination with all that room.8)

Seriously BB, if she doesn't like my boat, then what good is it? I don't wanna go out without her.

That's a nice rig. I am fortunate that my wife loves the water so much that she would go out in a 12 ft jon if that was all we had. I am also fortunate that my wife doesn't begrudge me the quality fishing time that I need in my life to remain balanced (which is partly why me undies are getting bunched easily in recent days, I havn't fished since October :( )...

October?!?!? Keeripes! :% We were out taking pictures of the Porpoise in December. You should see my wife when the porpoise are around. She gets this big smile and looks like a little kid, with the most beautifull wonder and fascination in her eyes. And although it is cold here now, it is supposed to warm up next week. Come on down anytime you absolutly, possitively have to go fishing! My boat is always ready!

Merc, the dry wieght is 399lbs. It looks like it would be closer to 1000, and pushes like a crazy. It has the same kind of sequential port fuel injection that my Toyota has. I just love this motor!

SW, nice. I agree, max the hp whenever possible. I have never been in a situation where I had too much HP but have been in a bunch where I didn't have enough. Those 4 strokes are the cats arse. I am happy for you and Mrs. SW. Enjoy!! d:)

Wow, I like that.
I didn't realise you put so much HP behind them.
Only ones I've seen are 'hire' jobs with small HP.
Where do you use these things....just on lakes and sheltered rivers etc.
Cheers
