Re: Someone Wanted Pictures - New Boat

RP, when you come down, drop me line and the coke is on me!d:)

OMR, I assume the 399# includes PT. The boat is great in rivers but it is wide so I can't to some of the little fishin' holes I used to fish. But it is a real versatile fishing boat. For drifting in the bay, trolling Stretch 25's, fishing up the river, it is great. It can handle rough water depending on several factors. Waves can be tall as long as they aren't too close together. Running wide open in two foot chop in the bay is surprisingly smooth and dry!

Kiwi,
I wouldn't be afraid to take this boat into the Gulf Of Mexico if the winds aren't above 15knots. It is fairly common to see pontoons in the gulf near the pass, but they don't venture very far off shore. If the weather is nice, these boats can go anywhere, but if they are caught out in rough seas, they have been known to come apart.

Regarding power, I have seen pontoon boats with I/O Chevy 350's, so, while I am not certain about the wisdom of that much HP, these boats can accomodate lots of power, I would be afraid to try to get mine to plane. I have seen pictures of these things with just the very back of the toons in the water, and I have personally whitnessed pontoon boats hauling @ss in the bays, I preferr to tool along at about 18mph. At that speed the Merc makes a SWEET sound, alomst like a diesel inboardd:)

Did Yamaha make that one, (the powerhead)? Or is she a real Merc? Great engine either way. My brother in Cordova Alaska Loves Yamahas, I kinda like 'em too, but I luv Mercs, which my brother and his Alaska Fishermen buds luv to subject to the "float test". Just curious. JR
