I learned about this section of track when I was working up north in early october, it has been abandoned since 2005 or so I have been told.

So if you have a scooter/speeder or highrail???

There's Miles, 'n Miles of abandon track up here in northern Ny,...
A short stretch has been turned Tourist excursion/ trail, complete with an old Steamer...
Over by Ole Forge way..

The line runnin' east of here has been turned into a storage parking lot...
Miles, 'n Miles of boxcars, bottom-dump cars, 'n opentop bottom-dump cars...
Close to 30 Miles of 'em between Carthage, 'n Harrisville...

Yesterday we rode "The Santa Train" to the "North Pole" to pickup Santa Claus with the grandaughter, a vintage passenger train pulled by a vintage diesel locomotive. It was the Crab Orchard and Egyptian Railroad which normally runs freight, coal etc. on 15 miles of track which connects with the Union Pacific main line.

That,s just cool. Lovell Cove was the first camp I ever stayed/worked in.

Even the bed room could have been mine ( they are all the same). Its about a 8x10 room with a bed and a closest. Always wondered how many people had slept in that bed because every time you came back to camp after off shift you got a different room.

The cook house was just like a restaurant . Go up and order what ever you want and it was billed to your company. Some of the best cooks work in those camps. Some of them should have been in 4 star restaurants but the restaurants could not afford there wages. Camp cooks can make huge money.

One time one of the owners of one of the companies landed his plane at the air port there and took out his prop on a sloppy landing. Two days later a new prop was flown in and we installed it. Then he just flew home.

Its cool seeing that place again. Don,t want to live there but still cool.
