It has been a very, very long time since I picked up a book that did not deal with work. Well at easter my mom gave me a copy of grass beyond the mountains. I think its time to once again disapear into a story for a few hours each day.

Not to hijack your thread, but I got a book for Christmas from the kids. It was the book The Blind Side. First book I have read in 30 years. Now I have the movie to watch and will compare. It was a very good book to read. Maybe there is something to this reading thing!

I learned to read at a young age. It's magic.

Unfortunately, like you, (due to life) I got away from it.
Just the title pique's my interest.

Your going to get a kick out of this. I grew up were that book took place.I have met all of the people in the book and when they came to town "Anahim Lake" in the winter us kids would all end up at Christensen's store around the wood stove to listen to there stories. For us "no tv in that area at that time" it was like going to the movies. We all would scoop a packet of hot chocolate "the store owner new but never said anything" and just marveled at the very tall tales they would tell drinking a cup of hot chocolate. It was some of the best times of my life.

Whe your done that book there are others in the series that are just as good.

Is there something wrong with me if I can't read a page without falling asleep? I get so sleepy and don't remember what I just read so I have to go over it again. It takes me days just to read a chapter. A 300 pages book would take me a year to finish and by the time I get to the last page. I'd totally forgot what I had read. I don't have as hard of a time with informational text book.

I never read growing up unless it was for school. Tried many times, just wasn't my thing. However, I've recently started travelling a bit and take many long flights around the world so I've started to try reading.

It's starting to click an be enjoyable but I stick more to books around hobbies/interests/sports. Keeps me engaged.

I used to read all the time, still try at times, but by the time I get home to sit down and read something these old eyes are just too tired, if I could get up first thing in the AM, clean the glasses, probably could read for awhile then.
