Has been too windy to fish from the kayak we waded a barnacle reef, cut my foot bad like blood spurt on the pulse bad. We paddled back loaded up and sent my wife to CVS for turmeric and super glue, not paying ER copay for a flesh wound. Worst part only needle fish were biting.

Were you bare foot ? Way to much pointy stuff and critters on the sea bed , we dont have much poisonous stuff here but I dont like slicing my foot up ( only got one left ).
Hope you dont get some nasty infection 🙂

Not worried about blood…it’s the Mycobacterium marinum infection that often goes along with it. Always have a bottle of hand sanitizer onboard to wash hands after handling fish

Oldest daughter almost lost her toes from a similar accident when she was young.

Nope was wearing my crocs. I have fished the reefs for years without a problem yesterday was my turn evidently.

I almost lost a toe from an oyster bed.
The infection was far more painful than the wound. Keep a close eye on it and don’t say I’ll wait another day. It’s just not worth it.

Back when I was in the restaurant bizz we used white pepper to stop the bleeding and as an anti bacterial. It burned like hell but did the trick.
Does the Turmeric work as an anti bacterial as well?

Funny my wife was mad because I refused to go to the ER funny the wound is no longer leaking and does not appear to be infected. I was a wild land firefighter for 25 years as a ground pounder I sure as hell know the difference between injured and hurt.
