sonar mounting location

I have an eagle ultra classic (looks same as lowrance x65) that I took off of another boat and was wondering where to mount the transducer. I'm mounting it on an 18ft. ranger fish n ski. The old one was mounted in the bottom of the hull by the bilge on the ranger. I had my eagle mounted on the back of the boat on the outside on my old boat. Any pro or cons? Does it reduce the effectiveness of it to mount it inside the hull?

Re: sonar mounting location

If you get a good solid mount with no air bubbles and a solid (not cored) hull under it, you lose nothing, except surface temperature measuring capability.
