i started a resto thread then my computer went to crap. But i was still taking pictures of the resto. then my daughter decide to erase the card in the camera. but was out in the boat by last may. I know some of ya will be disapointed but i just got a great running 115 hp for my 73 16' ss, I know 30 hp over the limit but could not pass on the deal. the 65hp merc on it is a good motor but just wanted a little more out of it. paid 500 for the 115, sold the 65 for 700. Good deal in my book

Sure, you don't have to put the hammer down all the time but I'd be scared out of my shorts going that fast.

Spose the transom will handle that kind of load?

A certain moderator on here who shall remain nameless may or may not have a 115 on his 16' SS and the performance is quite good and not too scary.

That mod fella, he had a 90 with some jet/carb tweeking I think. That about right?

There's another mod that owns a 16' SS...EZ's is an 18 footer.

I can claim to have the smallest motor of any SS...my trusty 30lb thrust Minn Kota

The transom is 9 months old and the 115 merc is an inline 6. Have not had her on the water yet as its only 12 degrees out side. might have to wait till march 1st and go to the cooling lake as the water temp there is always about 83 when they open it.

The top speed is about 55mph gps with a 19pitch turbo at over 6000rpm. I could work on the set up and get more but i think 55 is fast enough.

I may try a high 5 to bring the rpm down this summer.
