Hi. I have what I HOPE is not a stupid question. I have a 75 hp Evinrude Model 50523. I have spark on 2 of the 4 cyl. but not on the other 2. I thought at first that it was wires so I took off and tested all of the wires. Repaired 2 of the 4 so I thought that problem was solved... NOPE still spark only on 2 of the 4 cyl. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I believe if memory serves you will find two sets of points in the dist housing. One of them is either glazed over, bad or set wrong. Should solve your problem. That motor has only one coil so if it is firing on two the coil is okay.

As Freddy states, one set of points fires bank cyls 1 & 3, the other fires bank cyls 2 & 4.

On the high lobe, set the points so that a .020 gauge will pass thru but a .022will not.

Could be a dirty or cracked distributor cap.

could be a cap, but doubt it. Not with two cylinders not firing. Most likely the points that govern those two cylinders
