the foam stuff for sound proofing in my engine compartment is disintigrating and I have found it built up in the flame arrestor. Is there replacement material available that I could staple right over the old stuff or do I have to peel all the old stuff off and live with a little more noise?

There are kits with expensive stuff ... I went to Lowes and got the foil backed foam boards (sheathing type stuff) and contact cemented it in ... sealed up the seams with foil tape. It has worked relatively well ... really cuts down on the heat and helps a bit with the noise.

I have used the aluminum-faced bubble wrap which comes in rolls from Lowes in my outboard motor covers. Works great.
