Where is a good source for replacement ignition part for a Sport Jet 90? I've heard there is a kit available for $180 that includes RED stator, trigger, coils, wires and control module.

Good luck with that price.

Stator $175
Trigger $198
Coils $40 each
Blue cd modules $225 each

$943 total.

Have never seen it offered in a "kit" form.

It seemed too good to be true.

I've found good prices at stemtostern.com.

Even though they've got an 800 number, I've never been able to actually talk to anyone there or gotten a response to email inquiries, but what I've ordered gets delivered in a week or so.

You may want to try them.

I just placed the same order last week for the $180 kit. I called them this morning and they said it was on backlog and I should get it next week probably. It is supposed to be new. I do not know what you are looking for but I do not need the trigger, regulator or rev limiter. After I placed my order I found the same kit for $125 at "sea-way" I think it was. I will try to remember to post back and let you know how it is.

Crowleymarine.com is selling the kits for $180. I read over on jetboat14.com that the $180 kits are difficult to install (wires don't match) and even with the help of the manual, they don't work well after install. (2 Cases)

Hope you have better luck and please post your results. I'm going to live with my boats 28mph top end for the rest of this season and figure out a fix over the winter.

Don't know if they have your parts, but I got a CD unit for my '87 Force 85 for $80 + shipping from standardmagneto.com. Dealer wanted almost $400 for the same item!

I called on the phone and was told they bought the equipment to manufacture NOS parts from Prestolite. They even said I could return the part if it didn't solve the problem (unheard of!) but it fixed it and I can now heartily recommend them.

Or you could order from iboats since they so generously provide this forum.

Wow, I just looked at the crowleymarine special, and if it works on my boat, it seems like a cheap insurance policy--since it seems like it's not a matter of IF but WHEN the stator dies on my '87 Force 85. Anybody know if this setup will fit my boat?

Re: Source for Ignition Parts - Sportjet 90

Anybody know if these assemblies can be retrofit to earlier Force engines? Like the 85? The only external connection is to the kill circuit, which is just to ground, and of course the rectifier, but you could put in a greater capacity rectifier circuit. So the other question is whether the dimensions of the stator and trigger are the same. I'm thinking it would be easy enough to figure out a way to bolt it to the existing studs.

The kits from Crowley are cdm units, not cd units, no switchbox. Used on 1996 and newer Force engines.

If you can make them work, great, but you might want to check the part numbers to your originals before you order.

Now I'm really confused.

I have and 1995 SeaRayder, but the powerhead was replaced in 2002 with a rebuilt unit. How do I find out whether CD or CMD was used?

Re: Source for Ignition Parts - Sportjet 90

Just to let everyone know about the kit from Crowley Marine - I received mine and used all the parts except the rev limiter, trigger, and one CDM. Everything plugged in and worked just like the original. The only difference I can tell is the wiring colors are a little off color and the CDM has 7MM plug wires where the original wires were 8mm. I only needed one part but used all to see how it worked - fine.

Wished this kit worked with my 1990 120hp. Part numbers aren't matching on the stator though (888793 vs 398-832075A21). Guess its going to cost $400 after all:mad:
