I am a former member(still am) but my boat has been long gone and I currently own a car. Well that is going to change because I just cant live without a boat.. I tried and its a no go.
So I am looking for boats both outboard and I/O(last 2 boats were outboards) and my budget puts me around 3k or under(my last 2 boats were under 2k and sold for a profit). It will be between 17' and 22' and mostly bowrider setups.
I will be trailering and washing down/flushing my engine regardless of which type I get and I will be doing all my own work(moderately skilled).
I have been afraid of older I/O's in the past due to finding alot of boats with failing outdrives/risers and overall beat up.
The appeal for I/O setups for me is broadening my choices for boats and also I will mostly be putting up and down the intercoastal in no wake zones so a quiet boat with plenty of seating is a nice thing.
So I guess does anyone have any advice to support buying a I/O for saltwater use or with such a low budget?
