Hi Guys. I'll be in South Haven for a bit and was wondering, besides the big lake, what other lakes in the area would be worth going to? Thanks.

Re: South Haven

What kind of boat and what type of activities are you planning to do?

I'm not sure how far from South Haven you are looking for...however, Gun Lake is about 1hr to the East. It is a nice lake...pretty shallow but for watersports it is nice. I'm not real familiar with any other lakes that would be closer to South Haven.

Also, the Saugatuck waterfront is a must see. You could run up the shore to the Kalamazoo River Inlet from South Haven to get to Saugatuck...of course that will require relatively calm winds in a smaller boat.

Paw Paw Lake is nice. Get there early though, there aren't many spaces at the public launch.

Thanks Guys. 18 foot BR BTW. Someone mentioned Saddle lake. Anyone know it? Also, anyone know of a place to go off roading in the area? Silver lake is a bit far away for me.

Re: South Haven

Yankee Springs state park is on Gun Lake and has some nice two tracks and trails to go off roading on. Gun Lake has a nice party Island where things can get kind of crazy. Just watchout for the rocks in Gun Lake it has claimed two of my props and is a notorious prop eating lake.

Gull Lake in Richland is also a very nice lake it is about an hour from south haven and has great fishing.

There are lots of smaller lakes all over the area that are great for fishing including wolf and fish lake wich are only about 20 minutes east off of M-43 these can be great lakes if the big lake is too rough.
