ok thanks, next question.... do i just coat the bolts in sealer before i insert them into the holes? also there are some regular self-tapping wood screws and some small regular nails that hold the aluminum trim piece on top of the new wood. how do i seal those type fasteners? Thanks

Seal fasteners with 3M 5200 or 4200. When into blind holes use just a dab into the hole. On thru bolts I do both sides.

so i would just use a screw to make the hole, then take the screw out and put a dab of 4200 and reinsert the screw? what about the nails?

Do you have a rebuild topic about this boat?

Really not about using Oil paint or Spar anymore.

They will follow you to a rebuild topic if you start one.

Esp if you start one and post a link to it here.

We're all sort of like 3rd graders and like pix

Seeing where you started a rebuild originally thru completion is really nice to see. It can help other to 'see' what can be done, no matter the starting point and lets those that help you along the way see the progress and most importantly the pay off when you're done.

No Title

I am rebuilding my boat and chose the Rustoleum flat white oil based. I painted my floor, foam boxes, bilge and transom with it. It setup in about two days and came out great. Very hard finish that should last a long time. I didn't thin the paint only added Valspar Hardener to it. You can't tell but I also added non slip (basically sand) to the paint for the floor. Came out perfect.

Just curious why you'd add non-skid(sand) to the paint on the transom and bilge areas??:noidea:

I too suggest and prefer the photobucket account method. It's free and simple and always works.

kawaboy are you using an iPhone? If so, take your photo then zoom in on the photo a small amount and then screenshot it. That's how I do all of my photos.
