Need to get myself a spare and am wondering if there's any value (performance or otherwise) to upgrading my current prop, then using that as my spare?

Century 18' DC w/ Yam 115. 40 mph @ 6000 wot. Current prop is 13x17 oem ss.

Thanks.

Re: spare prop?

There are some props out there that are better suited for a 4 stroke and are better suited than others for certian hulls. If you need more bow lift there are props for that. Maybe you're looking for more mid range cruise speed or holeshot etc. If you're going to buy another prop just figure out where you need improvements and go from there.

thanks. our holeshot now is fine for our use but we are stern heavy so less bow lift would be good. how do i equate that to a particular prop?

Re: spare prop?

i would experiment in the 4 blade i swear by them try a 4x17 drop wot rpm 100-150 awsome hole shots, slower plane speeds, i even picked up some top end, and better mid range gas mileage over all way better. will not be dissapointed. turbo props have an awsome lineup check them out i got a turbo ultima 4 which has lots of stern lift the less boat in water the better and love it like night and day to 3 blade

Re: spare prop?

You need to be more explicit in whih model prop you are talking about.

Get a model number from him, otherwise you are buying a pig in a poke. And maybe Dhadley can tell you the blade geometry, as I don't know the blade geometry other than the Apollo.
